Travels
We flew from Siem Reip to Luang Prabang. Luang Prabang is a very relaxing city to visit. Trafic is light, everything is within walking distance. Be sure to dine and watch sunset along the Mekong. Also be sure to visit the falls and we really enjoyed the visit to the elephant sanctuary.
This is looking out over the Mekong from Mount Phousi.
We had dinner at a riverside cafe and took pictures as the sunset. A very enjoyable experience at a very low cost.
Everymorning very early the monks collect alms, rice, from locals lined up outside the Wats. An important experience, please show respect if you get lucky enough to be there.
Be respectful, this is taken across the road with a telephoto to not disturb the ceremony.
A Wat where we had observed Monks receiving the alms.
Close up of the detail of the entrance.
Probably the most famous and most exquisite Wat in Luang Prabang.
Detail around the entrance.
The interior.
This Wat is newer but built right on the palace grounds so is quite exquisite.
This is a spectacular set of falls about 45 minutes from Luang Prabang. For the best pictures get there early. You can swim in places and the water is surprisingly cool considering the heat.
