Travels
We stayed in Siem Reip and toured the surrounding temples for an entire week. If you go be sure to take your time and visit some of the lesser known temples. You will not be disappointed.

This picture was worth the trip. We had set up for an evening shot and were disappointed in the sky when a group of monks came and stood in front of us. This little boy separated from the group and is in as much awe as us. This is the largest religous struture in the world.
When you cross the causeway and enter Angkor Tom this is the backside of the gate. The gate has a face on each of the 4 sides and allowed for mounted elephants to pass through.
Is famous for the giant overgrowth of Banyon trees. Get there early if you want pictures as there will be a steady stream of visitors waiting to pose in front of these sights.
This is sunrise accross the moat towards Angkor Wat, our very first view of the complex. It is dazzaling.
After the sun has risen you can see the main gate across a moat that is 200 meters wide and totals 5.5 km in length. The main temple complex in the distance is 700 ft high.
All around the main floor is a covered hall with carved bas reliefs. This hall is 1/2 the lenght of the temple complex.
This shows some of the detail of the reliefs. In all these halls contain 13,000 sq ft of carvings.
Angkor Wat from the back corner.
There was a gathering of monks early in the morning for some special event.
I have ordered these images according to the most famous so have included Angkor Tom next. This is the largest complex at Siem Reip. This is the main entrance across the moat.
This is a huge temple complex within Angkor Thom noted for the carved reliefs of faces. Each of the 4 sides of each column bears a giant face. Taken in morning light.
